A Crazy Start to 2025: Kitchen Chaos and Muffin Grit
Share
Is 2025 already testing anyone else’s hustle? For me, it’s been a whirlwind—starting with my commercial kitchen closing. I knew a move was coming, but last week dropped the when and where like a surprise batter spill. Unfortunately, it would be sooner than planned and the new location they're planning to open is a longer commute.
Timing Clashes with High-Protein Muffins
A farther drive’s not ideal, but the real kicker is a few weeks’ gap between this kitchen closing and the new one opening—leaving me without a space to bake our blueberry mini muffins. This couldn’t hit at a trickier time, right as we’re prepping to launch a second flavor of our high-protein muffins. I won’t bore you with the details, but it’s a scramble. Recently, I tuned into a podcast with Allison Ellsworth, co-founder of poppi, the prebiotic soda taking over shelves. Her words stuck with me: entrepreneurship means expecting daily crises.
From Stress to Solutions
Allison said you can’t let every snag knock you off your game—problem-solving is the heart of the entrepreneurial journey. She’s spot-on. Minky Muffins started because I saw a gap in healthy snacks and crafted blueberry mini muffins to fill it. Back in the day, unexpected hiccups at work—like a batch gone wrong—would stress me out. I’d get frustrated redoing something I thought was done, delaying other tasks. It’d throw me off, sometimes souring my mood all day. That was me at my old job and even early on in this small business challenge.
A Shift in Perspective
Maybe having a baby flipped a switch, but Allison’s adaptability vibe clicked hard. I chose this path—building high-protein muffins from scratch—and I know how lucky I am to be here. So, I’m reframing these hurdles as chances to grow. Pivoting’s how you keep a small business moving forward. Take this kitchen gap—I’m still worried about where I’ll bake in a few weeks. But instead of freaking out, I’m tackling it head-on, hunting for a fix.
